Tenute Bosco
Tenute Bosco
Tenute Bosco is based in the municipality of Solicchiata, on the north side of Mount Etna. This young production venture, founded in 2010 by Sofia Bosco and her husband, encompasses two vineyard parcels in the areas of Piano dei Daini in Solicchiata and Santo Spirito in Passopisciaro, totaling 10 hectares.
Tenute Bosco’s mission is to highlight the character of native grape varieties and the Etna region. The Nerello Mascalese and Cappuccio varieties are primarily grown as bush vines, with their roots deeply embedded in the volcanic sand rich in mineral substances. The Vigne Vico vineyard in the Passopisciaro area dates back to the late 1800s and consists of ungrafted vines; the flagship wine of the winery is obtained from this precious pre-phylloxera vineyard, which is 120 years old.
All the vineyards are located at approximately 700 meters in altitude and are cultivated according to the principles of organic farming, with a strong emphasis on environmental sustainability as an act of respect and devotion to the “mountain,” as the locals have always called the volcano. The modern and technologically advanced design of the winery’s architecture reflects the spirit of this production venture.
