Palmento Carranco
Palmento Carranco
Palmento Carranco was born in 2018 the result of the union of two entities at opposite ends but both capable of producing great wines: Borgogno, the oldest winery in Barolo, and Tornatore, originally from Castiglione di Sicilia, one of the very few native Etna producers. Both share the intention to narrate and enhance the uniqueness of a still wild and unspoiled territory like that of Mount Etna.
The Carranco estate sits at an altitude of 500 metres above sea level in the Contrada of the same name, in the village of Pietra Marina, which is part of the municipality of Castiglione di Sicilia, located on the north side of Etna and considered to be one of the most suitable slopes for wine production.
The estate covers an area of eight hectares of vineyard, cultivated with the native vines of Etna, mainly Nerello Mascalese, then Nerello Cappuccio and Carricante.
