Masseria Setteporte
Masseria Setteporte
Masseria Setteporte is located in a unique place: on the slopes of Mount Etna, in the town of Biancavilla, within the DOC Etna.
Here time seems to have stopped. The Portale family, owner of Masseria Setteporte, has passed down the art of making wine from generation to generation.
The farm was initially modernized by Ferdinando Portale, who converted the classic sapling into a double-decker system, which is more suited to the techniques of
modern maturation.
In 2002 Piero Portale decided to continue his father’s project, bringing the farm from 12 to 27 hectares, 16.5 of which already planted. The vineyards are located on terraces facing south, at an altitude ranging from 650 to 800 meters above sea level.
Thanks to the volcanic soil, the altitude and the typical Mediterranean climate, the wines produced on the slopes of Etna are distinguished by elegance, refined aromas and great drinkability.
The grape Nerello Mascalese is also known as Negrello, and in Sicilian Niuriddu Mascalisi.
Blooming from the mineral and volcanic soil of Mount Etna, Nerello Mascalese is a local grape, destined almost exclusively for the production of Etna wines.
