Cantine Graci
Cantine Graci
We are situated on the North slope of Mount Etna at Passopisciaro, an area where viticulture goes back several thousand years.
The Cantine Graci vineyards are to be found at an altitude of between 600 and 1,000 metres above sea level in Contrada Arcurìa, in Contrada Feudo di Mezzo, in Contrada Muganazzi, in Contrada Santo Spirito and in Contrada Barbabecchi. Planting density ranges between 6,000 and 10,000 vines per hectare. Some of the vines are on their own roots, that is to say are ungrafted.
Our approach can be summed up like this.
We only grow indigenous grapes: Nerello Mascalese, Carricante and Catarratto with a great attention to sustainability. Cultivation of vineyards is certified organic, with careful selections and search for full maturity, limiting the yields in the vineyard to a minimum. The approach in the winery is rigorous, in search of precision and finesse.Vinification and aging take place in concrete tanks, in tini and large barrels produced with very long seasoned wood. All the work is aimed at favoring the personality of the vines, keeping intact the differences and nuances between one vintage and the other, in the belief that only by satisfying and respecting the natural expression of a great territory can wines have the potential to truly evoke emotion.
The significant variations between one season and another and between one vineyard and another are the treasures of our territory.
This variability, which Nerello Mascalese manages to interpret in an astonishing and chameleon-like manner, never ceases to amaze and thrill us. It stimulates us all the more to make wines which are true to and expressive of their real nature.
